I have left La Union, New Mexico, driven about 7 miles southwest where the road crossed the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks and ended at another dirt road. Five miles along the road that parallels the tracks and I arrived at Lanark (on the above map). Turn left onto Dona Ana A-011 and it is another 8.3 miles to the southeast corner of Kilbourne Hole (the blue dot on the above map, 31 degrees 57.35 minutes N, 106 degrees 57.38 minutes W). Hey look; Kilbourne Hole is only one of three maars in this area. Maybe there is peridot at Hunts or Phillips Hole!
