In-Situ Inclusion of Chlorophane Fluorite in the McHone Mine Pegmatite

chloro3a

A close-up image of rose-colored, color-change, facet grade chlorophane fluorite (noted by arrows) just as it is being removed from the McHone Mine pegmatite. Shattered nodules of fluorite range in size from 1 to 12 inches in maximum dimension. The nodules, or pods, are concentrated toward the center of the pegmatite vein, and are more or less randomly scattered through the pegmatite. A U.S. quarter dollar coin is shown in the photo for scale.
