About 30 years ago I was visiting Florissant, Colorado (a famous site for collecting insect fossils), and had a chance to visit the nearby Lake George area to look for some of Colorado's best amazonite and smoky quartz crystals. I'm not sure what can be collected in that area now; probably a subdivision on top of the better collecing areas. Anyway, shown above is one of the nice amazonite specimens that I found back then; a nice plaque of amazonite crystals perched on a slab of granite. (#M205, $20.00 Sold) |
