About fifteen years ago I took a tour of the gem-producing regions of Brazil. The major pegmatite region of Brazil, and the center of the gem mining industry, is located in the state of Minas Gerias. While buying gem rough in Teofilo Otoni, I obtained a small parcel of gem quality green tourmaline crystals (some shown above). These dark green crystals are facet grade material, but I believe they could be better used as unmodified natural crystals in jewelry, or as specimens in a mineral collection. The bottom of each crystal is a cleavage where the crsytal broke free from the cavity wall on which it formed. The top of each crystal is the natural termination. The crystals are valued at $4.50 per carat. All Sold.
