In ~1985 I visited the topaz area located in Mason County, Texas. At that time there were at least two local ranches that allowed rockhounds to look for topaz on a fee basis. After two days of scouring the ground and digging, we came up with two topaz crystals. Shown above is the better specimen. This is a color-zoned light blue topaz weighing 50 grams (Approx. 1.5 inches in length). At 10X magnification it is essentially flawless; there is a singel, minute, tube that extends approximately half way through the crystal. Eventually it will be cut into a single, very large gemstone. Sorry, this one isn't for trade or sale.
