Shown here is a gorgeous little matrix specimen of red beryl from the Ruby Violet Mine in the Wah Wah Mountains of Utah. This is a great specimen with three hexagonal-shaped crystals clinging to the rhyolite matrix. The largest crystal is a nice hexagon with clean terminations on both ends. Attached to the side of the large crystal is a smaller beryl. A tiny hexagonal beryl, still partially burried in the matrix, is off to the left. The crystal color is the fine raspberry-red of the finest red beryl specimens. The depth of color for the largest crystal is darker in the middle. The overall dimensions of the rhyolite are ~1" x 1" x 0.5". To learn more about this world-renowned gem locality, consult our web pages on the Wah Wah mines. Currently, the red beryl mines in the Wah Wahs are inactive and fine mineral specimens like that shown above are becoming increasingly scarce. (#M482, $50.00 Sold)
