Show here is another neat matrix specimen of red beryl from the Ruby Violet Mine in the Wah Wah Mountains of Utah. This specimen has four beryl crystals attached to the rhyolite matrix. The largest crystal has a nice hexagonal shape with a clean termination on the left. The right termination is irregular. The small hexagonal beryl was separated at its middle at some point in its geologic history. The crystal color is the beautiful raspberry-red of the finest Wah Wah specimens. The overall dimensions of the rhyolite are ~1" x 0.5" x 0.25". To learn more about this world-renowned gem locality, consult our web pages on the Wah Wah mines. Currently, the red beryl mines in the Wah Wahs are inactive and fine mineral specimens like that shown above are becoming increasingly scarce. (#M485, $50.00 Sold)
