Shown here is another rare specimen; a red beryl crystal from the Thomas Range. Unlike the red beryl from the Wah Wah Mountains, most of the red beryl from the Thomas Range tends to be thin tabular hexagonal shapes. The typical color is a little more on the rusty-side of red, not as vibrant as the raspberry red of the Wah Wah beryl. Also, the average size of the red beryl from the Thomas Range is quite small (note the scale on the above image). Despite its size, this is a beautiful specimen. The rhyolite matrix upon which the crystal clings measures ~ 2" x 1" x 1". I value this specimen, #M487, at $35.00.
